OpenVPN (Android setup)

Introduction

OpenVPN is a versatile protocol that can be utilized using TCP or UDP on any port. It also includes Stealth Mode (TLS-Crypt) and a new version of Stealth Mode v2 (TLS-Crypt-V2) which can be used to unblock 'tough' firewalls. Follow the instructions below to manually set OpenVPN on your Windows device.


Step 1

Head to the VPN99 CRM at clients.vpn99.net and sign in with your login credentials.


Step 2

From the left hand menu, click on "Services" > Select your Active Service > Click "Show Advanced Credentials".


Step 3

From the VPN Profile Generator, kindly pick the desired protocol and server. Press on Download to generate the requested OpenVPN profile.

Please choose OpenVPN Stealth v2 if you are trying to connect from Russia, China, Iran, UAE and other countries with restricted firewalls


Establishing an OpenVPN connection on Android:

Step 4

Open the OpenVPN Connect entry on the Play Store from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.openvpn.openvpn and install the app

Step 5

Open the App -> Click "Upload File" -> Then browse for your VPN Profile/Server file in your Computer files -> Pick the .ovpn conf file click "OK"


Step 6

Key in your sign in credentials which you can get from your VPN99 CRM -> then click "Connect"

Gentle reminder: Your "Advanced VPN Credentials" should ONLY be the user name and password you use for any manual connections (for ex. OpenVPN or WireGuard). Please do NOT use your VPN99 user name and password.

Step 7

The last step is to simply skip the "Select Certificate" option and click "Continue" > You are connected.
